Happiness is a choice. In a world where we are bombarded with messages of negativity, self-doubt, and despair, the one thing we all need to remember is that happiness is a choice and we need to choose it now and forever. Many people don’t understand how happiness is a choice. Many believe that happiness is luck or a privileged birthright.

Happiness is a choice that requires effort at times. It doesn’t happen spontaneously without real attempt, although with practice it could. Yes, it is somewhat of an undertaking, but many good things that appear in our lives we had to work at to make possible. Happiness works the same way. You need to decide now to be happy and make every endeavor to ensure it happens and that it’s everlasting.

Of course, it’s very unlikely that a person be hardwired to be happy all day every day. We have daily obstacles and challenges that throw us off course. We have tragedies and losses that let us mourn and express sorrow and gloom. We might express fury with fits of anger and rage. We might be indifferent, apathetic, and aloof. It’s important that we understand ourselves and know that day-to-day we travel along a rollercoaster of emotions. Sometimes we’re up and sometimes we dip down into fear-based doldrums.

The most important part of riding the rollercoaster is the state of mind we take on when we disembark and step off the ride. We need to reset and get back to “happiness”. Despite all the madness and mayhem that surrounds us, it is essential that we be aware of (and have control over) our frame of mind and our state of emotions, minute-by-minute, hour-to-hour. Choose Heaven Or Hell

A pillar of spirituality is the concept of creating heaven on earth (or the opposite). You can choose to see the worst in life (living in hell) or you can choose to see the best in life (living in heaven). Depending on which one you choose, you’ll start seeing examples of them in your day-to-day reality. Similar to when you purchase a big-ticket item, like a car or a premium vacation package, you then start seeing reminders of your purchase materialize before you.

For example, if you bought a new car, then you start seeing a recurring pattern of the same model of car showing up in your life time and time again. The same goes for an upcoming vacation you’ve bought a ticket for. You’ve made the commitment with the initial purchase and afterward you begin to see stores selling the perfect outfits for your upcoming vacation. You hear advertising or news stories on the radio about your destination. You hear people having conversations about having just returned from the very same travel spot.

Ironic coincidence? No. It’s because you’ve made a commitment (by making the purchase). With that purchase, something clicks in your mind. “There’s no going back.” And you’re fully on board. So now the Universe receives the same definite signal (“click”) and begins to send you examples, reminders, and instances of your recent purchase. You’ve locked in mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. And once that pledge or contract has been signed (making the purchase), then you’ve simultaneously made the connection to the Universe as well. And Universe hears you loud and clear. It’s only going to reinforce that commitment by giving you more versions of that decision.

It’s only possible if you live in a happiness vacuum, also known as “heaven”. Expending the amount of effort on becoming truly happy, did you know it’s possible to choose heaven over hell? The myth of heaven and hell has always been a trick we fell for long ago. Heaven and hell exist simultaneously right now, as you read this. You can choose heaven or you can choose hell. You can focus on the good in life and be grateful for your current live, no matter how bad it is, it could always be worse. Why Happiness Is A Choice

Each day you wake up, you have a decision to make. You may not even be aware you’re making a decision each morning. But you are. You are deciding whether or not your day will be positive or negative, joyful or miserable, pleasurable or agony. Will you make this day the best day yet or will you fall into a slump that will only make your future days more and more challenging?

Happiness is a choice is because of your internal setting, your barometer within. Your thoughts dictate your day. If you think of things that are delightful and make you cheerful, then you will see more delight and cheer in your day. For some, this is an outlandish notion, protestingly question: “How could that be?” But the evidence is in spiritual pillars and spiritual law. The Law of Correspondence, which when paraphrased states that your life is a mirror of your thoughts reflected back at you.

This is why it’s so important to start your day in a positive state. When you awake, be sure to elevate and shift your energetic state into a positive one. This is why going for a run in the morning is deeply beneficial, not just for physical health but for spiritual health. Meditation is a great activity which we should all make a regular practice. Meditation allows us to disconnect from this world (or physical world) and reconnect by providing us a spiritual center. 

Note: Please don’t confuse the term “spirituality” with “religion”.  They are two very different words with two very different meanings. It’s important not to mix up or conflate the two terms. You can be devoutly religious, but have no spiritual center. You can also have no religious faith (agnostic or atheist), but still experience the renewal that comes from meditation.

Is Happiness A Good Choice?

There’s a very easy answer for this. Consider the alternative: “Is sadness a good choice?” Of course not. Happiness is a personal choice and happiness is a conscious choice. But it is a choice that we have to fully embrace. Learning how to be happy with your life requires time and skill. If you choose to search for how to find happy, then all the better for the rest of us.

Some may think, “Well, how could I be happy when there is so much pain and anguish in the world? It’s unfair for me to be happy when others are suffering.” This is a backward way of thinking. Why? Because the more spiritual work you do on yourself (meditation, prayer, elevating your energy frequency and vibration), the more people you affect in a positive way. The more souls that achieve the frequency of love and reach ascension, the faster we can move the planet from the 3rd dimension into the 5th dimension. Your happiness is crucial to help cure the rest of the world of its sorrow. If you say, “I cannot be happy because others aren’t” then you’re stopping the flow of love throughout the world. Once we learn how to attract love energy and keep it flowing, we are much better off and set the rest of the world in motion toward. It is true that happiness is a choice not a destination. How we choose to be happy is up to us.

Everyone in the world, including you, needs to do his and her own “spiritual work” in order to elevate the frequency of the planet and the collective consciousness. Yes, there is plenty of suffering and torment in the world. And you may feel powerful to this. You may feel your efforts are useless. However, if you always choose happiness, you are doing the world a great service. By training yourself on how to be a happy person and by making your internal spiritual work a priority, you are changing the world. It may be imperceptible to you, but there are powerful forces at work when you choose to be happy.

Who Is Responsible For Your Own Happiness?

When we incarnate, we are enacting up on a contract that we signed. We enter the world solo, but not alone. We do have support. But ultimately, we have to decide if we want to use that support. Many people feel alone because they have not acknowledged the “higher being”. You can call it what you want: Source, Divinity, God, Infinite Intelligence, Universal Consciousness, Superconscious, etc. 

Humans (Earth Beings) are a part of a grand experiment. 

The grand experiment consists of two parts:

  1. We believe we are separated from “God”. That we operate in a world where we are in control of our lives. Think of us living in an ant farm and thinking that we are the ones that created our environment. But Source, God, again whatever-you-want-to-call-it is always there for us. We just have to decide to reconnect. 
  2. As a part of our contract, we have free will. We have the option to choose. We have a choice. The experiment is to see which of us beings learn that in order to be totally blissfully happy, we need to choose Infinite Intelligence as our guide. It’s like having a big brother or big sister watching over and taking care of us. But we choose not to let them help us, then we really are all alone — because we believe we’re alone.

That’s it. Separation from God and Free Will. Every other being in the Universe is connected. Look at animals and plants and how they develop based on environment and instinct. A house plant will grow toward the sunlight because it’s a part of Infinite Intelligence. It’s following what it is programmed or developed to do. Animals act on instinct. They operate based on the seasons and other spiritual signals. They eat, sleep, give birth based on the instincts instilled in them. They are following the grand plan. They don’t have a choice.

Humans, however, have both the choice of free will and the choice to reconnect back to Source Energy (Divine Oneness, Infinite Intelligence, etc.). Once humans reconnect through methods like prayer, meditation, spiritual alignment, then that’s when you start to see fireworks and real significant change. This change not only occurs in the visible world without, but also the invisible world within.

How To Choose To Be Happy

The most difficult part of happiness is the work it takes to be happy when everything is going wrong. So here are some tips to be happy: (1) Understand that ‘going wrong’ usually is a Universal course correction of some sort. It the Universe altering the direction of your life in a good way for your benefit. However, we have a myopic view. Only infinite intelligence can see the big picture.
For example, perhaps you’ve signed up for our FREE 7 Day Law of Attraction challenge. As you work on how to manifest your dream life, you may notice minor or major changes in your day-to-day existence. Some changes may seem out of your control and purview — and they are! If your relationships seemed stagnant or painful, then perhaps you begin to experience breakups or separation. Friends that you once had are now disappearing out of your social circle. As you’re learning how to visualize your dream life, things begin to shift and change. But remember to continue to have an attitude of gratitude and learn how to be grateful for these changes.
(2) As everything falls apart around you, be sure to maintain your happiness. Choose (and control) your reaction to negative events. Don’t resist change. Accept them and move on. This is always the hardest lesson. Divorce is change. Losing your job is change. Having to start from scratch is change. As long as you continue to pray and meditate and stay positive and happy, you can rest assured that you are in good hands and the Universe has it all taken care of.
