How To Connect With The Subconscious Mind: Discover Your Hidden Genius!
Do you know how to connect with the subconscious mind? The best way to connect with your subconscious mind is to establish a peaceful routine in your daily life. Schedule moments of quiet, calm, and tranquility throughout your day. Once your mind is settled and still, you will be better able to receive messages from your subconscious mind. Use deep breathing as well as meditation to learn how to connect with the subconscious mind.
What Is The Subconscious Mind?
The subconscious is the hidden part of our mind which is always active and working behind-the-scenes. It quietly shapes our emotions, decisions, and behaviors, often without us realizing it. It’s like a special assistant who works in the background secretly defining our experience of the world.
The subconscious plays dual roles.
First, it stores all sorts of thoughts, memories, and feelings. It controls our instincts, routines, and more specifically, our habits. These include our skills, traits, vices, or patterns which have become ingrained into our day-to-day experiences. Some of these habits benefit us. However, many of them don’t.
Our subconscious only stores what we tell it to. Often, we don’t even realize when we instruct it to store good or bad information. Many of us cannot make this distinction. We know that storing bad information (bad habits, addictions, negative tendencies) can be destructive and detrimental. And yet we don’t even know when we’re doing it to ourselves. This is why it is important to learn to connect with your subconscious mind.
Second, the subconscious acts as a conduit, a liaison, or a “go-between” for the conscious mind, the collective subconscious, and the superconscious mind.
The conscious mind is the pilot that is control of your thoughts, feelings, and actions. It’s the part of your mind that is wide awake and noticing what’s happening right now. Your conscious mind is what’s allowing you to read and absorb this blog post. Whenever you’re thinking, feeling, or experiencing something in the moment, it’s your conscious mind doing it.
The collective subconscious is the container which holds of all the other subconscious minds in the world. Your parents, family, neighbors, friends, and even strangers are all connected to this collective subconscious.
As an example of how this works, have you ever thought of someone in your life and then your phone rings and that same person is calling you. This is an example of your subconscious “dialing in” to the collective subconscious and connecting with your caller.
Have you ever thought of a song and a few moments later it plays on the radio? Again, your subconscious “tuned in” and connected with another signal.
The collective subconscious allows you to access anyone at anytime. This includes animals, pets, items (like food, cars, money, houses, etc.), nature (weather, trees, grass), etc. Take some time thinking about how this all works and you’ll better understand how “thoughts equal things.” This is the core foundation of manifesting and “the Law of Attraction.”
The superconscious is the Creator, the Big Spirit, or God. Put whatever name you’d like on it, it’s the being that put us all here together on this flat plane. And your subconscious has a direct line to the superconscious. Be thankful to your subconscious because it is what allows us to “send a prayer” or “ask for divine guidance.” You can call upon the superconscious at any point in time. And it always answers.
It’s important to note that the subconscious is not an actual physical place which you could point to on the human body. like in general anatomy or physiology. The subconscious mind exists on a different plane of existence, similar to how our emotions, thoughts, feelings, and desires exist on another plane or dimension.
What does the subconscious mind do?
Our conscious mind allows us to grow, change, and learn. While our subconscious takes all of those changes and learns for us to be able to recall once again. In every way, our subconscious is a life saver and we can rely on it for life affirming and necessary skills.
For example, breathing. We don’t need to think about each and every breath we take. However, our subconscious can handle that for us. Some scientists would say that’s simply the autonomic nervous system. But again that is only looking at it from the physical plane. When viewing it from the etheric or astral, it is the subconscious that is handling it.
What Does Subconscious Mind Mean?
Let’s define the conscious, subconscious, superconscious, and the unconscious. The subconscious works by relaying messages from the conscious mind to the superconscious mind. The superconscious can be thought of as the giant network or brain that unites and connects all of our subconscious minds. It is Infinite Intelligence, the Divinity, Creative Intelligence, or Source. It is what make flowers and grass grow, our hearts beat, and is the source of life to all living beings.
Why is it Important to Connect With Your Subconscious Mind?
Connecting with your subconscious mind is like tapping into a hidden treasure chest of thoughts and feelings that often influence our actions and decisions without us even realizing it. Imagine your mind as an iceberg – the tip above the water represents your conscious thoughts, while the massive part below symbolizes your subconscious.
Getting to know this hidden part is crucial because it holds memories, emotions, and beliefs that shape how you see the world and yourself. When you connect with your subconscious, you can better understand why you react certain ways, overcome fears or doubts, and even find creative solutions to problems you didn’t know existed. It’s like gaining access to a powerful friend who can guide you through life’s twists and turns.
How Your Subconscious Mind Works
The subconscious mind works by receiving messages from the conscious mind. Once the message is received, it is permanently saved until another message overrides it. Often times we save messages that we don’t want the subconscious mind to process.
Bad habits like vices (heavy drinking, smoking, over-the-counter (OTC), prescription or illicit / recreational drugs) which can be damaging, detrimental and saved by accident. This is why it’s important to only partake in positive, good habits, so as to not get stuck with a bad one you cannot erase. Learning how to connect with the subconscious mind involves knowing what your subconscious mind will accept or ignore. Buried within each of us is a code or “password” to unlock the subconscious mind and give us access. We used it often when we were children. But as we become adults and we learn to navigate life, we “throw away the key” and forget how to regain admittance.
In order to figure out how to connect with the subconscious mind, we need to treat it as its own separate being. Your subconscious mind has been with you for your entire life. Think about that. It knows your habits (the good ones and the bad ones). It knows what you’re good at and what you’re still learning (or have never attempted). It will protect you from what you don’t want to face. It will only follow what it’s programmed to do. Your subconscious mind is a robot that works inside of you.
The subconscious mind is an engine that works continually in the background, while all of the conscious mind handles activity in the foreground. Foreground activities include creative pursuits, new ideas, new thoughts, new concepts. The litmus test for whether or not you’re employing the conscious mind is if you have to spend time to learn it (like a foreign language, an unfamiliar highway on a road trip, or a new skill set) then you are working with the conscious mind.
The subconscious mind only kicks in once you’ve fully learned and digested the new information. Once the new activity becomes rote and routine where you don’t have to actively think about it, like driving a car, riding a bicycle, writing, or tying a shoe, your subconscious mind takes over. This is great for new skills and traits that are beneficial. But not so great for old bad habits or vices which you’d like to abandon.
How Can Connecting With Your Subconscious Mind Help You Achieve Your Goals?
Think of your subconscious mind as a wise mentor hidden within you. When you connect with it, it’s like having a secret helper for your goals. Your subconscious is the guide that knows all the tips and tricks and solutions to your problems. It holds your past experiences, your dreams, and even your doubts. By understanding these parts, you can figure out what might be holding you back and come up with creative ways to push forward.
Plus, your subconscious is like a brainstorming machine. When you’re stuck on a problem, it can provide solutions you never thought of consciously. So, by getting to know this hidden side of you, you’re unlocking a powerful ally that can help you level up in the game of life.
Methods for Connecting With the Subconscious Mind
Good news! You already speak the same language of your subconscious mind. Now you just need to apply it. Here are some methods which are easy to do:
- Daydreaming: Have you ever zoned out during class, while listening to music, or even while driving? Well, that’s your subconscious mind taking over. You can use daydreaming to connect with the subconscious, purposefully. Choose a quiet and safe time to let your mind wander. Insert scenarios which you would want to occur in your life. It’s like sending a message to your subconscious, and it might just surprise you with insights later on.
- Dream Diary: Your subconscious loves to be active while you sleep– when dreams happen. Keep a notebook by your bed and jot down your dreams as soon as you wake up. Over time, patterns might emerge, and you’ll uncover what your subconscious is trying to tell you while you snooze.
- Free Journaling: Grab some pens, paper, markers, coloring pencils and start writing or drawing. Let your hand move without overthinking. Let the words and images flow through you onto the paper. This creative process taps into your subconscious, bringing up thoughts and feelings you might not have realized. It’s like your inner artist is speaking to you without words.
The subconscious doesn’t have to be mystery. Give these methods a try, and you’ll open up a whole new level of self-discovery and understanding!
How to Control the Subconscious Mind
In terms of the various ways of ‘saving’ these messages, according to Dr. Bruce Lipton, the subconscious mind can receive messages through four (4) different methods:
- Hypnosis
- Repetition
- Super Learning
- A Shocking or Traumatic Event
Hypnosis – In this day and age, hypnosis is very common and familiar to our society. Many people use hypnosis as a way to overcome vices, lose weight, or incorporate much wanted personality or character traits. It can also be used as a parlor trick and entertainment for many a hen party or public appearance. However, hypnosis can be very effective when working with the subconscious.
The art of subconscious suggestion is not an exact science mainly because hypnosis is not guaranteed to work on everyone. Every person has a different level of suggestibility. Some people are easily ‘put under’ and fixed into a “hypnotic trance”. While others are much more hardened and insensitive when it comes to a hypnotic suggestion. It’s just a matter of human design, like DNA, or different tastes in food.
Managing the subconscious mind using hypnosis offers some flexibility in that you don’t need another human being there to create the trance. You can put yourself in a hypnotic trance during sleep or meditation. Playing a recording of a mantra, a value statement, or affirmation over and over again (repetition) while you sleep (theta), or while in a deep meditative trance-like state (alpha) can be very effective.
Repetition – Of all the methods of training and working with the subconscious mind, repetition is the most common technique and the easiest to undergo. Without even knowing it, we use repetition in our everyday lives. If you attended any type of educational institution (primary school, grade school, high school, or university), then you are very familiar with using repetition in order to send a message to the subconscious mind.
Think of our day to day lives. We learn through repetition all the time. If you meet someone new, you may need to repeat their name a few times before you fully remember it. When learning a new language, we may repeat sounds or phrases over and over before our mouth muscles get used to the speech pattern.
Mastering a new skill like dancing, playing an instrument or a sport, which may take hours of practice. But overtime, the skill becomes innate and we may move through the fundamentals more fluidly without thinking, like a reflex or by using instinct. These are all examples of using repetition to influence the subconscious mind.
Super learning – From birth to the age of seven years old, all humans are in a perpetual state of super learning. This is when our brains are operating continually on a theta wavelength. This beginning stage of life (age 0 – 7) is a time period of super absorption of information. It is a way for the child to survive. If you reexamine human evolution, early humans needed to find a way to survive and learn as much information as soon as possible because outside threats to their lives.
Protecting against enemy tribes, predators, inclement weather and changes in season, as well as finding resources for food, shelter, and other basic requirements were necessary in order to get through each day. Although an infant or child may not be responsible or old enough to carry out such activities, watching and learning from the adults was key to survival.
So learning how to communicate, walk or travel, search or forage, build, swim, hunt, were all skills a human child needed to learn quickly. And there weren’t classrooms with desks papers or pens to study this. It needed to be done asap! So this was all absorbed via the subconscious mind simply by paying attention to the environment around them.
This brings up the question of nature and nurture. Again, according Dr. Lipton, nurture wins out over nature every single time. The study of epigenetics focuses on this very phenomenon.
A Shocking or Traumatic event – An event that renders a shock to the mind. This is not the operable or ideal way to change the subconscious. But when it happens it is a potent and . Often these events are uninvited and unpredictable, like a car accident, PTSD, or witnessing an unwelcome or unwanted event that you cannot erase from your mind.
The clear difference between these methods are not just the techniques, but also the length of time it takes for the subconscious to actually edit or make the change. Super learning is the fastest method, while the others will be longer in duration and vary depending on the subject’s level of adaptability.
How The Subconscious Mind Creates Your Reality
The subconscious mind takes its cues from the conscious mind. The conscious mind, when it is active and fully present, is in charge. It doles out the orders and gives the cues to the subconscious mind. The conscious mind designs our world, while the subconscious mind brings it into reality.
The core challenge with how to connect with the subconscious mind is that the subconscious mind doesn’t make any judgment calls or distinctions on what information it is being fed. It cannot decide what is good information or bad information. If your conscious is laboring over negative and detrimental thoughts and the subconscious receives those cues, it will create it in reality.
Essentially, the subconscious is an internal robot receiving directives from you. It only processes the information. It doesn’t make a call on whether or not the information will benefit you. In an ideal setting, the conscious mind creates things you want in your life. Great love, money and abundance, peace and happiness. You name it. The trick is to get the subconscious mind to only bring to life the reality you want as opposed to the one that you don’t.
When Is Your Subconscious Mind Active?
Your subconscious mind is always active. Throughout your day you are pulling in new information, new thoughts, ideas, and accepting or rejecting them. As come across dilemmas and mental roadblocks, your subconscious is still at work, even when you’ve stopped actively thinking about the problem.
Your subconscious is the problem-solver working in the background. Your subconscious mind is like a chef and a staff of cooks working in back of house. You place an order and the team gets to work, preparing the meal, while you’re waiting at the table. As a patron of the restaurant, you may not see every chop, slice, or dice. You just see the result. When the solution is ready, then you get your meal delivered to you at your table.
Your subconscious mind is even at work when you’re asleep through dreaming. When your head hits the pillow, that’s when it takes centerstage. Sometimes these dreams can reveal things you didn’t even know you were thinking about. So, even when you’re not awake and conscious, your subconscious is always busy, helping you out in its own discreet way!
How Can I Train My Subconscious Mind?
Training your subconscious mind is like teaching a clever pet some new tricks – it takes a bit of time and patience, but the results can be amazing. First, set clear goals for what you want to achieve. Imagine your goals as signposts in your mind’s landscape. Your subconscious will notice these signs and work towards them, even when you’re not consciously thinking about it.
Next, use positive affirmations and statements. Repeat positive phrases to yourself, like “I am confident” or “I am able to overcome all challenges.” Say these statements over until they feel natural. By doing this, it’s like planting seeds in your subconscious, and over time, they’ll grow into strong beliefs that guide your actions.
Remember, just like you practice a sport to get better, you’ll need to practice training your subconscious, too. Consistency is key, so keep repeating your goals and affirmations. Your subconscious is like a helpful friend who’s always by your side, so nurture this friendship and watch as your dreams start to unfold!
